How to Install APK, XAPK & OBB Files on Android

What are APK, XAPK and OBB files?

An APK is the standard Android app package. An XAPK bundles the APK together with its extra data in one file. An OBB is a separate data file used by large games and must be placed in the right folder before the game will start.

How to install an APK

1. Download the APK file from the page of the game or app.
2. Open Settings → Security and enable Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager.
3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install.
4. Launch the game and enjoy the MOD features.

How to install an XAPK

1. Install a file manager or an XAPK installer app.
2. Open the XAPK file with it and choose Install — the tool unpacks the APK and its data automatically.
3. Wait for the process to finish, then open the game.

How to install a game with an OBB file

1. Install the APK but do not open the game yet.
2. Extract the OBB archive if it is zipped.
3. Copy the OBB folder (e.g. com.example.game) to Android/obb/ on your internal storage.
4. Launch the game — it will detect the data and start.

Common problems & fixes

• App not installed — remove the original version of the app first, or free up storage.
• Parse error — the file did not download completely; download it again.
• Game asks to download data — the OBB folder name or location is wrong; check step 3 above.
• Blocked by Play Protect — tap More details → Install anyway, or temporarily pause Play Protect scanning.
